Live Nation seeks to dismiss part of the lawsuit the U.S. Department of Justice and a coalition of states filed in May. Prosecutors seek to break up Live Nation and argue the concert promoter and Ticketmaster illegally inflated concert ticket prices and hurt artists.

During a City Council meeting Thursday, reactions were decidedly mixed about a proposed Live Nation venue. While many members of the local music community strongly opposed it, some business owners championed the idea.

Live Nation Entertainment Inc. asked a court to throw out a coalition of states’ tag-along antitrust claims in the Department of Justice’s lawsuit accusing the music industry giant of wielding an unlawful monopoly.

A big decision is currently being made at a Prosper Portland board meeting about a property near OMSI, which could end up as a Live Nation concert venue.
